Lisa Hochwimmer studied with Uwe Füssel at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and as an Erasmus Program scholarship holder with Johannes Ettlinger at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. At the time she commenced her studies she was already completing an internship with the Hof Symphony Orchestra. She subsequently became bass and double bass trombonist with the Philharmonic Orchestra Kiel in January 2017 - when only 22 and still an undergraduate. In February 2020 she won the sponsorship prize of the Verein der Musikfreunde Kiel e.V.
Guest engagements have taken Lisa Hochwimmer to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Bavarian State Opera, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater.
Her years of experience with orchestras as well as in jazz and brass ensembles such as the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra and the 3BA Concert Band (brass band) have contributed to her stylistic versatility. She completed her studies in the summer of 2020 with the recommendation of making a CD recording. The charismatic trombonist is predestined for a solo career thanks to her full-bodied and mellifluous sound, her excellent declamatory flair, and rousing stage presence.
Lisa Hochwimmer plays an S.E. Shires bass trombone.
